Sailing schooner ATLANTIC – Profile of the entrepreneur Ed Kastelein

The 2010 Sailing yacht Atlantic is magnificent replica of the 1903 William Gardner designed three-masted sailing schooner Atlantic. The Owner, Ed Kastelein is the man responsible for the recreation of this wonderful new schooner Atlantic. Here is his story.

Sailing Schooner ATLANTIC

The 2010 launched classic schooner Atlantic, was beautifully recreated under the supervision of her Onwer Ed Kastelein at the Dutch shipyard Van der Graaf. She is a replica of the original sailing schooner Atlantic, the winner and long time record holder of the 1905 Kaiser’s Cup from New York to The Lizard.

G.L. Watson & Co. designed Super Yacht NAHLIN

G.L. Watson & Co. 1929 designed yacht Nahlin was first built in 1930 by John Brown & Co. and after her rediscovery and repatriation she was recently restored to her full beauty.

2010 Pendennis Cup in Falmouth

The Pendennis Cup 2010 from the 9th – 14th August, in Falmouth have 7 yachts confirmed for sailing event. There will be an entertainment programme that will complement the 5 days of competitive racing out on the waters of Falmouth Bay – giving owners and crews a chance to enjoy a “proper Cornish experience” and allowing them to enjoy Falmouth and its beautiful surroundings.

Sailing Yacht RAINBOW moved to Holland Jachtbouw

Following the completion of her hull, the J-class sailing yacht Rainbow has now been transported to Holland Jachtbouw for further construction. The original Rainbow yacht dates back to 1934 and was designed by William Starling Burgess. Today’s Rainbow sailing yacht is based on this original yacht, redesigned by Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects.

Classic sailing Yacht Tuiga wins overall in the Cowes Westward Cup Regatta 2010

The classic sailing yacht Tuiga won The Westward Cup Regatta 2010 at Cowes with with superyachts Mariette second and 3rd place going to to Mariquita.

Sailing schooner Atlantic delivered.

The superyacht Atlantic, a 56m three-masted schooner which is a replica of the famous schooner ATLANTIC launched in 1903, has been delivered. Sailing yacht Atlantic was reportedly in La Rochelle, France for around 10 days where she completed some finishing touches and is now on her way to the Mediterranean to start her charter season.

1962 Feadship Yacht Sirene under refit at Van Dam Nordia

The Van Dam Nordia shipyard is one of the world’s oldest yacht-builders. Since shipbuilding is a trade that often goes from one generation to the next, the Van Dam yard has also been passed on through the family ranks. Until this day the yard is owned by the Van Dam family and run by Robert van Dam’s son in law Jacco Jongkind, Managing Director of the yard. The design department is lead by Robin ten Hoope, who has been co-responsible for the latest generation of Nordia yachts for the past 10 years. This month Van Dam Nordia welcomed the Yacht Sirene to our yard, a motoryacht built by Feadship in 1962. This lovely yacht has already had many modifications over the decades, and the current owner is aiming to bring her back to original state. Yachts Sirene is due to be ready in about three months time.

Yacht Mariette Treats Pendennis to Some Sailing

To celebrate a successful refurbishment and as a thank you to Pendennis Charlie Rowe, Mariette’s captain, invited members of the refit team to be guests on board the vessel during her 2 day sea trial. “Mariette is back in the water and ready to sail again. We have had an excellent refit with Pendennis and I appreciate all the effort the crew and yard guys have put into improving the boat.

Claasen Jachtbouw have launched the 44 metre J-Class sailing yacht Lionheart.

The J Class sailing yacht Lionheart incorporates two small separate deckhouses and cockpits – one of which is designed especially for the yacht’s owner and guests. This feature gives extra versatility for both racing or cruising the superyacht.

Tall Ships at Sail Tampa Bay 2010

Sailing ships from around the world will dock July 10-14 in downtown Tampa, Fla., for Sail Tampa Bay 2010.

Ships that will be on hand include the Coast Guard bark Eagle, the Capitan Miranda from Uruguay, and the Gloria from Colombia.
