Amos Nachoum honoured as SeaKeeper of the Year at the 2019 Founders Event

The SeaKeepers Society, to which CharterWorld are media partners, has hosted its Founders Event following the end of FLIBS 2019 and has honoured the work of Amos Nachoum, Katherine Zacarian and the DISCOVERY fleet for their continued work to promote conservation of the world's oceans.

The International SeaKeepers Society has hosted its 2019 Founders Event with the conclusion of the 60th edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The gathering took place at a private residence and during the glamorous private dinner Amos Nachoum was awarded the title of 2019 SeaKeeper of the Year, Katherine Zacarian has received the NextGen award and the work of the 2018-19 DISCOVERY fleet was showcased to all attendees, which numbered near to 200. The SeaKeepers leadership was at the event, including Chairman Emeritus, Michael Moore, Chairman, Jay Wade, and Board Members Glen Allen and Mark Luther.

The video highlighted the work of Amos Nachoum, the founder and Owner of BigAnimals Global Expeditions, as well as honouring the vessels and representatives of the scientist-led expeditions, citizen science trips, educational outreach programs and community engagements of the DISCOVERY fleet: Captain Peter Molnar, Captain Glen Allen of D/Y ANDIAMO and SHREDDER, Captain Chris Walsh of ARCHIMEDES, Captain Jalene Harney of CATNISS, Captain John Crupi of DOROTHEA III and Captain Morne Petersen of JULIA as well as Joanne Drake from Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef on behalf of Great Barrier Reef Legacy.

The International SeaKeepers’ Society is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation of the world’s oceans through the use of research, education outreach programs, with coverage provided by media partners including CharterWorld. From May through to July research programs included shark tagging, whale tagging, coral reef research, genome plankton sampling and sargassum observation and filming.
