The impressive and very secretive WETA Yacht Project (also known as hull U77 and Gin Tonic II) has been reported by various New Zealand and international sources towed to Port Nikau in Northland. The move has taken place last week and the local company, Culham Engineering, will presumably continue with her refit. Superyacht WETA is believed to be the largest yacht refit for New Zealand and together with the 58.5m Motor Yacht ULYSSES belongs to Graeme Hart.

There are speculations about the reasons why exactly was the vessel moved from Auckland’s Drury-based Nautical Contracting to Culham Engineering; the companies would not comment either.

In 2011 Weta’s hull and superstructure were transported to New Zealand after their initial construction at Marco Yachts in Chile. She was meant to go to Whangarei, however a last minute decision was made and the yacht was taken to Auckland instead.

Luxury mega yacht WETA (Hull U77) features exterior design by Michael Leach and her interior was designed by Loro Piana Interiors (Misa Poggi). She should accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 cabins and is expected to have a crew of 25.
