Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armon has launched the 68m/223ft luxury support catamaran WAYFINDER, a larger ‘evolved’ version of the 66.2m/217ft luxury catamaran HODOR launched in 2019.

Incat Crowther produced her naval architecture and exterior styling, North American YCTS gave technical assistance and the interiors are the work of Oliver Design.

Notable features include four decks, of which there is an extensive upper deck aft for the storage of tenders, vehicles and water toys, plus a helipad and helicopter on the stern with a hangar below. The 14m/45.9ft beam provides ample room for both the vehicles and a workshop for spare parts and a rescue tender. The crew accommodation provides for the 18 crew running WAYFINDER and 14 additional staff or crew for expeditions.

The water and fuel storage onboard has a capacity for 22,000 litres and 200,000 litres respectively, and a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M73L diesel engines provide a top speed of 21 knots with a range to follow the mothership wherever she cruises.

To reduce the environmental impact on her destinations, M/Y WAYFINDER has two propulsion engines produce 2,832 kilowatts each that are designed to reduce the vessel’s nitrogen oxide emissions to two grams per kilowatt-hour. Wastewater is treated on board before being discharged into the ocean, and all solid waste generated is treated and stored onboard.

Construction and outfitting are still ongoing at the Burela dock before support yacht WAYFINDER commences her sea trials before being delivered to her Owner.
