French ship builders Ocea have released details of a 47m superyacht concept: OCEA X47. Featuring the naval architecture of Joubert-Nivelt Design and interior and exterior styling from Franck Darnet, the luxury yacht concept has an on-trend plumb bow commonly seen in explorer yachts.

Described as a ‘commuter’, yachts that were used in the past to quickly cross sheltered stretches of water, superyacht OCEA X47 has a narrow beam and an extended length to provide a generous beach club and tender garage.
“The narrow hull is efficient. These are boats with low consumption and good seaworthiness,” Bernard Nivelt of Joubert-Nivelt Design explains.

Michael Joubert was inspired by the crossings made by affluent New Yorkers from Long Island to Manhattan and redesigned the concept for offshore use and the requirements of modern owners and guests.

“On a yacht, even one such as this, space is always restricted. It needs to be optimised, made visually larger to be as pleasant as possible,” interior designer Franck Darnet explains. There were also the design specifications of the owner to consider. “This is why I have designed a contemporary, consensual atmosphere, with noble materials. The basic model is in oak, but it can of course be made darker with walnut or ebony, or on the contrary brighter with lighter coloured woods. Starting from the outfitting brief, everything can be modified, it’s à la carte!”
